Job summary

Willis Knighton Health is seeking a Physician Assistant in Gynecologic Oncology to provide comprehensive patient care in collaboration with Gynecologic Oncology physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

The PA will assist in the operating room, conduct rounds, participate in call coverage, and manage treatment for gynecologic cancer patients across surgical, inpatient, and outpatient settings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and Master's degree.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years PA experience in Gynecology/Oncology; OR experience required.

Willis Knighton Health is actively recruiting for aPhysician Assistant (PA) in our Gynecology Oncology practice, whichprovides comprehensive patient care in collaboration with Gynecologic Oncology physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. This position supports the surgical, inpatient, outpatient, and perioperative needs of gynecologic oncology patients. The PA will assist in the operating room, conduct patient rounds, participate in call coverage, and provide ongoing management for patients undergoing treatment for gynecologic cancers and complex gynecologic conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Care

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history and physical examinations.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging.
• Monitor and manage patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgical treatment, and other oncology-related therapies.
• Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Conducthospital rounds on gynecologic oncology patients.
• Manage postoperative patients, including evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, case management, and consulting services to coordinate patient care.
• Respond to inpatient consultations and urgent clinical issues.

Surgical Responsibilities

• First assist in gynecologic oncology surgical procedures.
• Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient evaluations.
• Assist with surgical preparation, wound management, and postoperative follow-up care.
• Evaluate and manage patients in an outpatientclinic.
• Conductfollow-up visits for cancer patients.
• Facilitate referrals and coordination of care with multidisciplinary specialists.
• Participate in survivorship and supportive care initiatives.

Call Coverage

• Participate in weekday and weekend call rotation.
• Respond to patient concerns, urgent clinical needs, and hospital consultations.
• Provide after-hours support in accordance with departmental needs.

Qualifications

Required Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Master's degree required.

Required Licensure and Certifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of Physician Assistant experience in Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Women's Health, or related specialty.
• Gynecologic Oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Operating Room (OR) experience required, including first-assist experience.
• Experience managing complex surgical and oncology patients preferred.
• Experience with inpatient rounding and postoperative care required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of gynecologic cancers, oncology treatments, and surgical management.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

Work Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Combination of outpatient clinic, inpatient rounding, and operating room responsibilities.

• Occasional extended hours may be necessary based on patient care needs.
