Company Description

Dragonfly Medical and Behavioral Health is a telehealth-focused substance use disorder treatment facility serving individuals with opioid, alcohol, marijuana, nicotine, and methamphetamine addictions. The organization emphasizes a whole-person approach that supports improved functioning and long-term recovery. The clinical team includes psychologists, a licensed clinical social worker, a certified peer recovery specialist, and medical providers board certified in addiction, psychiatry and family medicine. In addition to group therapy and medications for opioid use disorder. The staff is known for providing care in a kind, compassionate, and nonjudgmental manner.

Role Description

The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care for individuals living with substance use disorders in an on-site setting in Johnson City, TN. This part-time role includes conducting comprehensive assessments, prescribing controlled substances, and educating clients about mental health and substance use. Daily responsibilities involve prescribing and managing medications for addiction treatment, monitoring patient progress, documenting care in the medical record, and participating in care coordination with behavioral health providers. The Physician Assistant will also provide education on harm reduction, relapse prevention, and wellness, while supporting a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented environment. Additional duties may include participation in quality improvement activities, adherence to regulatory and safety standards, and occasional involvement in patient and community outreach initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of Tennessee and certification by the NCCPA (or eligibility for certification/licensure at time of hire) and Virginia.
  • Training or experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or primary care settings, with a strong interest in substance use disorder treatment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage medications safely and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills for working within a multidisciplinary team and engaging patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, patient-centered, and nonjudgmental care, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Comfort with using electronic health record systems and basic telehealth technologies as part of clinical documentation and patient care.
  • Ability to work two have days per week remote.
  • CPR/BLS certification required; DEA registration and experience prescribing medications for opioid use disorder (e.g., buprenorphine) are highly preferred.
  • Experience in group care settings, quality improvement initiatives, or community-based recovery programs is a plus.
