Job summary

Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX is seeking a Physician Assistant to join a dedicated care team. You will provide direct patient care, perform histories and exams, and order tests under supervision.

Qualifications

  • BLS and ACLS certifications; experience in acute care settings is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide patient education.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and cover shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with Texas laws and hospital policies.
  • Perform histories, examinations, orders for diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Develop and manage treatment plans, including prescribing medications as appropriate.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, nurses and other team members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in education and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

Responsible for managing health problems and coordinating age appropriate health care to the patient. Part of the innovative care team that will meet the individual needs of the patients and their family. Functions independently and under a collaborative agreement with the supervising physician and receives administrative supervision from a clinical departmental director. Practices in accordance with hospital rules and regulations and the applicable professional standards of care providing evidence-based, age appropriate care. Included in their scope of practice is performing histories, examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures along with prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Manages chronic patient conditions and is instrumental in providing patient/family education. Active as a respected member of the healthcare team designed to meet the individual needs of the patient and their family. Takes key responsibility as a patient advocate and ensuring referral of the patient when necessary. Provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable Texas laws and regulations governing Physician Assistants and Texoma Medical Center's clinical policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Physician Assistant (PA) Job Requirements:

Current RN licensure in the State of Texas, or compact required, BSN preferred.

  • Master's degree from accredited Physicians Assistant program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a licensed Physician Assistant in a clinical and/or hospital setting preferred. Three (3) years of experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred.
  • Current Texas Physician Assistant license in good standing; current PA-C certification through the NCCPA, required for initial Texas licensure and preferred for continued practice.
  • Current DEA registration if prescribing controlled substances is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certification required. Healthcare Provider courses will be provided during new hire orientation or upon transfer and must be completed prior to working in a clinical setting.
  • Two years experience in acute care specialty nursing.
  • Comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; performing specialty-appropriate procedures.
  • Prescribing and managing medication.
  • Providing patient, family, and team communication.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation; managing time and priorities in a fast-paced clinical setting; demonstrating critical thinking and clinical judgment; educating patients; responding appropriately in emergencies; and applying knowledge of medical standards, disease prevention, pharmacology, infection control, patient safety, healthcare regulations, EHR systems, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams; build rapport with diverse patient populations; manage multiple priorities with attention to detail; maintain confidentiality and professional judgment; adapt to changing clinical situations; work independently within scope while coordinating with supervising physicians; and perform the physical demands of patient care, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
