Job summary

Asheville Ear, Nose & Throat, PA, in Asheville, NC, seeks a skilled ENT Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our growing otolaryngology practice. The PA-C will work with supervising ENT physicians to provide comprehensive care for ear, nose, throat, and head/neck conditions.

The ideal candidate will manage acute and chronic ENT issues, assist in surgeries, perform in-office procedures, and support pre-/post-operative care while coordinating with audiology and primary care teams.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program; Master's degree required.
  • Current NCCPA board certification (PA-C), active state PA license, and DEA registration.
  • 3–5 years of clinical ENT, surgical subspecialties, or urgent care experience.
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn detailed microscopic and endoscopic ENT procedures; excellent manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Evaluation & Diagnosis: perform exams, take histories, assess ENT symptoms.
  • Surgical Assisting: assist in ENT surgeries and maintain sterile field protocols.
  • Surgical Care Management: handle pre-op workups, post-op care, wound management.
  • Diagnostic Interpretation: order and interpret audiograms, tympanograms, imaging studies.
  • In-Office Procedures: perform nasal endoscopy, laryngoscopy assistance, ear care.
  • Treatment Planning: develop and monitor patient plans, prescribe medications as allowed.
  • Patient Counseling: educate patients on disease management and post-op instructions.
  • Documentation & Coordination: document in EHR and coordinate with audiology and PCPs.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate ENT Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our growing otolaryngology practice. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our supervising ENT physicians and surgeons to provide high-quality, comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of illnesses affecting the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. The ideal candidate will manage both acute and chronic conditions, perform specialized in-office procedures, and handle pre- and post-operative patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Evaluation & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive physical exams, take detailed medical histories, and evaluate patients presenting with ENT symptoms (e.g., sinusitis, hearing loss, vertigo, tonsillitis, and sleep apnea).
  • Surgical Assisting: Serve as first or second assist in the operating room for a wide variety of ENT surgeries (e.g., tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, sinus surgeries, thyroidectomies, and ear tubes). Maintain sterile field protocols and assist with wound closure.
  • Surgical Care Management: Manage pre-operative workups and counseling, as well as postoperative monitoring, suture/staple removal, and complication management. (Optional based on practice needs: Assist in the operating room during major surgical procedures).
  • Diagnostic Interpretation: Order and accurately interpret specialized diagnostic tests, including audiograms, tympanograms, allergy panels, and imaging studies (CT scans, MRIs).
  • In-Office Procedures: Safely perform common outpatient procedures, including flexible nasal endoscopy, laryngoscopy assistance, cerumen (earwax) removal, microscopic ear debridement, and minor wound care.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop, implement, and monitor patient management plans, including prescribing medications and therapies in alignment with state regulations.
  • Patient Counseling: Educate patients and their families regarding chronic disease management, preventive care, treatment risks, and postoperative rehabilitation instructions.
  • Documentation & Coordination: Maintain precise, timely documentation within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Coordinate multidisciplinary care with audiology, speech therapy, and primary care providers.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree required.
  • Licensure & Certification: Current NCCPA board certification (PA-C), an active state Physician Assistant license, and a valid DEA registration.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of clinical experience in otolaryngology, surgical subspecialties, or urgent care
  • Skills: Proficiency or strong willingness to learn detailed microscopic and endoscopic ENT procedures. Excellent manual dexterity, sharp attention to detail, and a highly collaborative communication style.
