Job Description: Anesthesiologist in the U.S. Army

As an anesthesiologist, your work on the U.S. Army healthcare team is vital and life-saving. You will apply specialized skills to address unique challenges in surgical settings, patient care, and more. The role offers valuable opportunities such as paid continuing education, humanitarian missions, leadership training, and competitive benefits. Serving in the Army Reserve allows you to work within your community and serve when needed. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team with dedicated professionals who share your values and passion for excellence.

Benefits for Active Duty:
  1. Full-tuition scholarship for qualifying specialties, including a monthly stipend of over $2,200.
  2. Up to $40,000 loan repayment through the Active Duty Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (ADHPLRP), with a minimum of 2 years on active duty.
  3. $396,000 signing bonus, paid in four annual installments, starting after completing Basic Officer Leadership Course (BOLC).
  4. Travel opportunities, including humanitarian missions.
  5. 30 days of paid vacation annually.
  6. Military retirement system combining traditional pension and Thrift Savings Plan contributions.

Benefits for Army Reserve:
  1. $75,000 special pay, paid annually in $25,000 increments for up to three years, for those who have completed a residency program.

  3. Specialized training assistance and a monthly stipend during accredited residency programs. Must be a U.S. citizen and commit to service in the Army Reserve after residency.
