Job summary

Wellstar Health System seeks a Physician Advisor to influence quality, utilization, patient satisfaction and efficiency through performance improvement and education initiatives across facilities.

Reporting to the VPMA, the PA will review cases for medical necessity, lead readmission reduction efforts, and collaborate with care management, nursing, and administration to optimize resources and patient care outcomes.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• MBA/Management or Health Administration preferred.
• Board certification in specialty; ABQAURP or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 8 years clinical experience; 1–3 years Utilization Management post-residency.
• Excellent English communication and leadership in complex care environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead or co-lead Hospital-wide Complex Care Rounds weekly.
• Provide timely consultation for utilization management and care coordination.
• Assess medical necessity and appropriate level of care; ensure proper documentation.
• Collaborate with VPMA, Care Coordination, and Quality teams to improve outcomes.
• Address throughput, Length of Stay, and readmission reduction initiatives.
