Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Maryland seeks a Physician Advisor to optimize inpatient utilization, LOC/LOS, and CDI activities across the system. You will engage physicians in care coordination and review policies affecting care access and documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school.
• Completion of specialty residency (e.g., Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine).
• Five years recent experience in clinical practice in a hospital strongly preferred.
• Previous experience as a physician advisor preferred; experience with medical staff committees preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient/Observation Clinical Optimization: function as physician expert for utilization decisions and discharge planning guidance.
• Collaboration to ensure appropriate patient placement and staff understanding of care processes.
• Clinical Documentation Improvement: provide education to medical and CDI staff.
• Regulatory/Accreditation: stay current with UR LOC and documentation requirements.
• Revenue Excellence: conduct peer reviews to assist with payer-related determinations.
