Job summary

As a Physician with the Tennessee Department of Health, you will provide essential primary care and women's health services to underserved and uninsured patients who may otherwise face barriers to care. This role also offers an opportunity to serve as a Preceptor for Advanced Practice Nurses, helping support high-quality care across the region. Without the pressures of insurance negotiations and office overhead you can focus on patient care, professional collaboration, and improving community health.

Job Overview

The Tennessee Department of Health is seeking a Physician to provide primary care to adults and adolescents, along with women's health services within the East Region's 15-county area. The position is primarily based at the designated local health department clinic and includes direct patient care, clinical collaboration with advanced practice nurses, and support for county and regional operations.

The role also contributes to TDH's strategic priorities of Access, Prevention, Health Equity, and Workforce Excellence. This is not a high-travel position. Travel is approximately 20% and most work will generally occur within the designated location for clinical, administrative, training, and operational needs.

Minimum Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Valid and unrestricted Tennessee medical license
• Valid DEA license
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in a primary care specialty such as Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
