Job Summary

• Provides leadership and medical direction for the Palliative Care Department and staff.
• Contributes to the development of standards of care.
• Acts as a liaison between the Palliative Care Department and St. Tammany Health System medical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners to practice medicine with no restrictions.
• Staff physician of St. Tammany Health System.
• Palliative Care Fellowship completed; Board Certified Palliative Care Physician preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an ILCOR–approved course (e.g., Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, American Red Cross) with a manikin check off.
• ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred.
• Valid and current state‑issued driver’s license.
• Insurance policy proving automobile coverage meeting at least the minimum liability limits required by the state of residence.

Physical Demands

• Good physical health required; standing, sitting, and walking for long periods.
• Must lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must work in environments with moderate noise levels.
• Physical effort: constant (67%-100%) for handling, talking, hearing, seeing; frequent (34%-66%) for reaching; occasional (1%-33%) for lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching.
