Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a PRN Designated Health Authority (DHA) at Palm Beach and St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Centers in Florida.

The DHA oversees clinical services, provides supervision, and ensures quality care for detainees, with duties including documentation, referrals, emergencies, and participation in relevant medical

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school and fully licensed to practice in Florida.
• Board-certified in pediatrics, family medicine, emergency medicine or internal medicine.
• Current DEA registration and Florida licensure are required.

Responsibilities

• Consult with medical providers to ensure quality patient care at the facility.
• Supervise clinical services provided by professional and paraprofessional staff.
• Manage referrals to outside facilities for appropriate care and continuity.
• Attend medical and clinical meetings as required.
• Document all encounters in the patient medical record and ensure proper timing and signatures.
• Provide emergency on-site treatment and respond to urgent situations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Designated Health Authority serves as the responsible Physician and health authority required by national standards. The Designated Health Authority provides overall supervision for clinical services for the site to ensure appropriate delivery of on and off site necessary medical care but has no other managerial responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• Fully licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.
• Current DEA registration.
• Florida licensed and board certified physician with a specialty in pediatrics, family practice, emergency physician or internal medicine

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Consult with medical providers in the community to resolve issues in delivering services to patients
• Supervise the clinical services provided by the professional and paraprofessional staff
• Manage referrals to outside healthcare facilities for appropriateness, quality, and continuity of care.
• Attend medical, clinical and other meetings, as required
• Complete sick call, chronic care and infirmary care as required.
• Document all encounters in patient's Medical Record
• Ensure all documentation is timed, legible and signed.
• Ensure all verbal or telephone orders are countersigned as required.
• Adhere to approved formulary for therapeutic regimens before utilizing non-formulary procedure.
• Review all non-formulary requests to ensure documentation of pertinent observations and treatment conclusions.
• Utilize available in-house resource personnel for treatment and resolution of identified problems before utilizing off-site referral.
• Provide emergency treatment on-site and respond appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
• To redefine benchmarks for the industry utilizing core values, strong partnerships, effective clinical practices, and innovative healthcare strategies.
• Ensure competence in proper technique for basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED use.
• Follow evidence-based standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
