Job summary

Apicha Community Health Center in Manhattan seeks a Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient panel. You will manage adult acute and chronic conditions, order tests, and coordinate referrals within a collaborative care team.

The role requires NYS license, DEA, and residency in internal or family medicine. BLS and infection control certs are expected; Spanish or Southeast Asian language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree and board eligible/certified.
  • Completed residency in internal medicine or family medicine.
  • BC/BE in specialty.
  • Current NYS license.
  • Current DEA certificate.
  • Updated BLS and infection control certificate.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or an South east Asian language preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIV primary care and LGBTQI care is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to a panel of adults with ongoing management of health conditions.
  • Evaluate and manage acute and chronic conditions for adults.
  • Order and analyze diagnostic tests using high-value care and evidence-based medicine.
  • Refer patients to consultants when necessary and coordinate care.
  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation in ECW and complete billing.
  • Work with diverse populations, including recent immigrants to the U.S.
  • Participate in night and weekend call and collaborate with the care team.
  • Attend clinic and staff meetings and engage in quality improvement activities.

Apicha Community Health Center aims to improve community health by providing access to comprehensive primary care, preventive health services, mental health, and supportive services. The center is dedicated to delivering high-quality, culturally competent services that enhance the quality of life. We are currently seeking a Primary Care Physician to work at our Manhattan.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive medical care to a panel of patients on a continuing basis including but not limited to
    • Evaluation and management of acute and chronic medical conditions for adults
    • Advising patients on treatment recommendations, lifestyle modifications, and age-appropriate preventive screenings
    • Ordering and analyzing necessary diagnostic tests using high value care principles and EBM to inform clinical decision-making, prescribing appropriate treatment and/or medication in an evidence-based manner and within the scope of licensure
    • Referring patients for consultant services when necessary
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examinations
  • Complete EMR documentation, billing, and patient-related paperwork in a timely manner, we use ECW
  • Comfort working with diverse populations including recent immigrants to the United States
  • Participate in night and weekend call shared among clinicians
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team
  • Attend and participate in clinic, provider, and all staff meetings
  • Participate in pre-visit planning activities with the other members of the care team
  • Participate in center wide and clinic-specific quality improvement projects and PEER Review
  • Participate in appropriate certification/maintenance of certification and continuing medical education activities
  • Maintain updated license and DEA
  • Work continually to assure deliverance of quality clinical care in a safe, efficient, competent, and effective manner
  • Comply with all laws applicable to the practice of your specialty including HIPAA and mandated reporting
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
  • Must have an MD or DO degree & board eligible/certified.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency training program in internal medicine or family medicine
  • BC/BE in specialty
  • Current and valid NYS license
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Updated BLS and infection control certificate
  • Proficiency in Spanish or an South east Asian language is preferred
  • Working knowledge of primary HIV medical care and LGBTQI care is a plus
