Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist with treating all patients under direct supervision of a Physical Therapist.

• Use modalities and soft tissue work as recommended.
• Adhere to policies including vacation and punctuality.
• Complete documentation and billing paperwork timely.
• Instruct patients and family in an effective and professional manner.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment.
• Recommend supplies and equipment.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Participate in staff meetings.
• Attend CE programs as approved by the Clinic Manager.
• Handle conflicts with peers/patients with appropriate escalation to management.
• Use effective communication with internal/external customers.
• Resolve issues with peers with manager as mediator.
• Propose solutions to issues.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Adapt to changing environments/locations.

Job description

Location: Barrington, Illinois
Status: Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)
Days/Hours: Days and hours vary (no weekends)
Expected Starting Pay (depending on experience): $17.00 - $20.00 / Hour

Summary

Responsible for supporting the PT/PTA in their daily productivity. Assists with supervising patients while exercising, putting on and removing hot / cold packs, removing electrodes, and general support to the therapists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• May assist with treating all patients except Medicare under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist only
• Paperwork must be co-signed by a Physical Therapist.
• Assists Physical Therapists with assessing readiness to return to a sport.
• May use all modalities, soft tissue work including massage as recommended by a Physical Therapist.
• Adheres to policies and procedures including vacation, attendance/punctuality.
• Completes required paperwork within recommended time frame (documentation and billing)
• Instructs patients and family in an effective and professional manner.
• Adheres to policies and procedures including vacation/time off, punctuality/attendance.
• Maintain clean, safe working environment to facilitate quality of patient care, and efficient operations. (Including laundry).
• Recommends appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Recognizes and responds appropriately in emergency situations.
• Participates in staff meetings.
• Attends continuing education programs as approved by the Clinic Manager to ensure that treatment procedures are state of the art.
• Deals appropriately with co-worker or patient conflicts.

• Greets patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner and provides information and assistance to them.
• Schedules appointments, orders supplies as directed by the Clinic Manager, maintains waiting room, performs typing, assists with report generation, and other clerical duties.
• Assists PT, PTA, ATC with evaluation room and gym preparation and clean up including contrast baths, ice cups, hydrocollator and freezer maintenance, removal of e-stim patches and cold packs.
• Regulates flow of laundry as needed.
