Job Summary
Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant administers rehabilitative techniques to develop, maintain, or restore function affected by age, trauma, disease, or other conditions.
Essential Functions
- Planning
- Assist in evaluating treatment effectiveness and modify plans as needed.
- Identify and prioritize functional limitations.
- Set realistic long-term and short-term goals aligned with patient needs.
- Determine appropriate treatment techniques and outline intervention plans.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and assist in discharge planning.
Treatment- Implement treatment methods based on patient needs under supervision.
- Focus on posture, balance, strength, endurance, and mobility.
- Ensure safe application of modalities and exercises, adjusting as necessary.
Education- Provide education to promote recovery and functional improvement, tailored to the patient's background.
Documentation- Accurately document all patient care activities, responses, and progress in a timely manner, maintaining confidentiality.
Professionalism- Maintain professional judgment, adhere to laws and policies, and foster effective relationships with patients and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Physical Therapy required.
- 0-1 years of experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of human development, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and kinesiology.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in English language, both verbal and written.
Licenses and Certifications
- PTA - Physical Therapist Assistant required.
