Job Summary
  • A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) implements physical therapy treatment programs, assesses patient progress, notes patient response to treatment, and documents daily in clinical charts or as required.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provides education to patients, staff, and families.
  • Provides care to diverse populations including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, considering their growth and development.
  • Interacts professionally with patients, staff, physicians, and the public.
  • Treats patients with various conditions such as integumentary, musculoskeletal, congenital abnormalities, genetic disorders, and neurological dysfunctions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of growth and development, diagnostic and treatment techniques, principles, methods, and procedures, as well as human behavior and performance.
  • Skills: Ability to apply physical therapy skills as directed, communicate effectively, think critically, and monitor performance.
  • Abilities: Deductive reasoning, active listening, information synthesis, and attentive communication.
Requirements
  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant license from the State of Tennessee Division of Health Related Boards.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Membership in a professional association is recommended.
