Job Summary
- A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) implements physical therapy treatment programs, assesses patient progress, notes patient response to treatment, and documents daily in clinical charts or as required.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provides education to patients, staff, and families.
- Provides care to diverse populations including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, considering their growth and development.
- Interacts professionally with patients, staff, physicians, and the public.
- Treats patients with various conditions such as integumentary, musculoskeletal, congenital abnormalities, genetic disorders, and neurological dysfunctions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of growth and development, diagnostic and treatment techniques, principles, methods, and procedures, as well as human behavior and performance.
- Skills: Ability to apply physical therapy skills as directed, communicate effectively, think critically, and monitor performance.
- Abilities: Deductive reasoning, active listening, information synthesis, and attentive communication.
Requirements
- Current Physical Therapy Assistant license from the State of Tennessee Division of Health Related Boards.
- CPR Certification.
- Membership in a professional association is recommended.
