Overview

Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) assists in performing assessments, developing, revising, and implementing treatment plans to address physical dysfunction or pain, focusing on rehabilitation and maximizing patient independence.

Responsibilities
  • Provides physical therapy interventions under a plan of care written by a physical therapist.
  • Performs therapy interventions using appropriate techniques and skills.
  • Documents treatment interventions accurately.
  • Coordinates activities with rehab aides, students, and support personnel.
  • Communicates relevant patient care information effectively.
  • Utilizes resources efficiently to ensure department productivity and safety.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program (Associate's degree required).
  • Connecticut state licensure required.
  • Acute care experience preferred.
