Job Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited PT assistant program (CAPTE approved) and passed the national exam.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Licensed driver with insured, well-maintained vehicle (if licensure is required where the HHA is located).
Job Summary

The PTA provides physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist and according to the physician's care plan.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct physical therapy services as directed by the physical therapist and physician's plan of care.
  • Treat patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain optimal performance.
  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfers, and prosthetic training.
  • Utilize physical agents such as heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
  • Monitor and report patient reactions and condition changes to the physical therapist and organization personnel.
  • Instruct patients on the use of mobility aids and orthotic devices.
  • Maintain accurate records and clinical notes within designated timeframes.
  • Participate in team meetings and in-service education sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
