Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant II reports to the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant II provides optimal patient care by implementing a physical therapy program to individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental and patient/family directed approach. Under the general supervision of a Physical Therapist I, II, or III , functions as a staff physical therapist assistant. Supervises PTA students and provides clinical education experiences.
Patient populations served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric for a variety of diagnosis to include but not limited to: neurologic, orthopedic, post-surgical, pediatric, medically complex, inpatient or outpatient throughout the hospital system.

Sign on Bonus Available:

$5,000 for 2-year commitment or

$10,000 for 3-year commitment

Education: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program, less than one year experience as a physical therapy assistant.

Licensure:

  • Physical Therapy Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (
  • BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required

Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force (F), Examples include: #1:To transfer a 100 lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker, #2. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet., #3. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand.
