UVA Health seeks a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Acute Inpatient Therapies team.

At UVA Health, a licensed therapy assistant, certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) or physical therapy assistant (PTA), focuses on helping patients recover from injuries, illnesses, or surgeries and improve their physical, emotional, and functional wellbeing.

How does this role contribute to patient care?

Physical therapy assistants are responsible for improving patient mobility, strength, and function through exercise, manual therapy, and education. Physical therapists work with patients recovering from injuries or surgeries, those with chronic conditions, or those seeking to enhance physical performance and reduce pain. A therapy assistant works under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist for PTA and licensed occupational therapist for COTA.

What would I expect to do in this role?

Under the direction and control of a Licensed Physical Therapist, the Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant may:

  • assist the Physical Therapist in performing selected components of physical therapy intervention to include treatment measurement and data collection
  • implement established therapy treatment plans and provide therapy interventions
  • document patient care according to professional standards and departmental guidelines
  • actively participate in quality improvement program development and professional growth activities'

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Associate's Degree
  • Experience: None
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant within the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or certification with the appropriate credentialing Board of the profession. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Home Health: Valid Driver's License is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $31.00 - $31.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
