Job summary

Villa Health & Rehab in Florida seeks a PTA to assist our Physical Therapist in restoring patients’ mobility and independence after illness or injury in a Skilled Nursing Facility. The PTA will provide therapy under supervision, help progress patients, and support the rehab team during PRN shifts.

Ideal candidates hold a current Florida PTA license and CPR certification; SNF experience is preferred. The role offers continuing education opportunities and a patient-focused team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.
• Contributes to a physical therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues.
• Administers treatment programs for patients.
• Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining updating, and studying therapy histories.
• Evaluates abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist’s interpretations of patient evaluations and test results.
• Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities.
• Helps patients in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.

Summary of the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA):

A PTA is responsible for assisting Physical Therapist in helping patients recover and rehabilitate from the effects of a serious illness, injury or medical event, regaining their own best possible level of functional ability, well-being and independence.

Job Requirements of Registered Physical Therapists (PTA):

• Current Florida License as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
• Current CPR
• At least one (1) experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.
