Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides comprehensive skilled services under the direction of a Physical Therapist. The PTA educates patients and their family members and ensures patient safety. The PTA is accountable for accurate documentation and compliance with all legal rules and regulations. The company adopts the physical therapy scope of practice as outlined by the state for its licensed PTA personnel.

Qualifications & Attributes
  • Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a PTA in an acute setting.
  • Home care experience is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills to create positive impressions with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of therapy best practices.
  • Ability to make appropriate physical therapy judgments.
  • Problem-solving skills to handle situations effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and observant.
  • Disciplined work ethic with good prioritization and punctuality.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with your name listed as a driver.
Major Areas Of Responsibility
  • Providing skilled services in patients’ homes as per the Physical Therapist’s plan of care.
  • Observing, recording, and reporting patient reactions, changes, and progress.
  • Performing prescribed physical therapy procedures and diagnostic tests.
  • Treating patients to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain performance using physical means.
  • Assessing functional problems and working toward goals to improve patient status.
  • Communicating effectively with physicians, therapists, and colleagues.
  • Participating in case conferences and promoting care coordination.
  • Recommending or evaluating prosthetic/orthotic devices and making minor adjustments if needed.
  • Educating staff, patients, and families on therapy techniques, safety, and equipment use.
  • Completing all documentation accurately and timely, in compliance with agency and federal guidelines.
  • Participating in on-call duties, trainings, and new employee orientation.
Essential Functions
  • Driving to patients’ locations as scheduled.
  • Attending daily visits and documenting all activities within specified timeframes.
  • Following the plan of care within the scope of practice for a Licensed PTA.

Per visit compensation covers all activities related to a patient visit, including preparation, travel, supplies, charting, and communication.

Health Qualifications

Must meet physical position requirements, with evidence of current negative TB test or x-ray, and be free of conditions limiting job performance. Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens exists.

Physical Demands

Requires constant to frequent physical activity, including lifting, reaching, driving, and other mobility tasks. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities. Travel is required.
