Job description

The Graphic Design Assistant Professor reports to the Chair of the Department of Art and Graphic Design. This is a 9-month faculty position with teaching responsibilities in the Graphic Design major, as well as additional duties as the Internship Coordinator for the Department. The role requires participation in the mission and governance of Anna Maria College, curriculum development and assessment within the Department of Art and Design, and assistance in student recruitment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Teaching Responsibilities :
   1. Teach 6 courses per year (18 credit hours), including developing and implementing syllabi in accordance with College standards.
   2. Promote high standards of academic achievement and integrity.
   3. Review student work and provide timely feedback and grades.
   4. Maintain documentation per college and department policies.
   5. Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional strategies.
   6. Hold regular office hours for student conferences.
   7. Guide students in their academic progression and write letters of recommendation as needed.
   8. Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and professional activities relevant to the field.
2. Service Responsibilities :
   1. Develop and manage internship opportunities for all majors in the Department.
   2. Coordinate recruitment activities in collaboration with admissions.
   3. Produce departmental graphic design work for various programs and events.
   4. Lead the annual New England Secondary School Scholarship Exhibition Program.
   5. Contribute to a collegial working environment and participate in faculty development and college committees.
   6. Maintain effective communication with students, alumni, and community partners.
3. Research Responsibilities :
   1. Engage in ongoing professional practice and research in the area of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS :

• Minimum of an M.F.A. in Graphic Design or a related field; college teaching experience preferred.
