Otterbein SeniorLife seeks a Part-Time/PRN Physical Therapy Assistant to provide quality home health PT services under a PT's direction. The role supports residents in various Otterbein communities, with a flexible PRN schedule and mileage reimbursement.

Responsibilities include directing exercises, gait training, and patient education, while maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring safety within private homes and care plans.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PTA program with an associate degree approved by the APTA.
• CPR certification required.
• Must have a valid drivera0s license and reliable vehicle and insurance.
• Minimum 1 year clinical PTA experience, Home Health or community health/hospice preferred.
• Must communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients and health care team.
• Demonstrates optimism, enthusiasm and willingness to work with others.
• Adequate vision and hearing to understand written/verbal communication.
• Ability to ambulate in patient homes, including stairs and uneven surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist per physician's plan of care.
• Treats patients to relieve pain, restore function and maintain maximum performance.
• Guides patients through active and passive therapeutic exercises, gait and functional training, transfers, and prosthetic training.
• Uses therapeutic agents (heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, massage) as directed.
• Observation and reporting of patient responses and changes in condition to the PT and staff.
• Instructs patients on care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic/orthotic devices.
• Maintains and files clinical notes and records per prescribed timelines.

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of the Physical Therapist and according to the physician's plan of care. This is a PRN position.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy treatments according to directions of the physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
• Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.
• Utilizes physical agents, including, but not be limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.
• Observes and reports to the physical therapist and the organization personnel the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.
• Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
• Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and conference notes, which will be incorporated into the patient’s clinical record in prescribed time frames.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an associate’s degree in science or applied science that is approved by American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.
• Licensure/Certification: Possesses and maintains current CPR certification
• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working condition and have automobile insurance in accordance with Ohio laws.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-year clinical experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant, in-home health or community health/hospice preferred.
• Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and relate courteously and cooperatively with patients, caregivers, colleagues, supervisors, co-workers and all others.
• Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm and willingness to work with other health care team members and reflect concern for the wellbeing on patients and employees.
• Visual/hearing ability must be sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
• The Physical Therapy Assistant must have ability sufficient to ambulate throughout a patient's home, navigating stairs and other physical barriers typical to private residences
