Who You Are:
We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Physical Therapy Assistant. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, be creative, and work towards accomplishing facility goals.
Position Summary:
The Licensed Staff Therapist Assistant performs patient care and related activities as directed by the Staff Therapist.
Essential Functions
- Treats patients as directed by a licensed therapist.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and a collaborative team-building approach with all patients, clients, and team members.
- Maintains productivity standards as determined by supervisor and clinical needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.
- Treats patients according to treatment plan.
- Develops effective treatment plans with functional, goal-based outcomes and ensures approval/orders for services from referring physicians.
- Records clinical documentation according to regulatory and professional guidelines.
- Records daily treatment charges per billing guidelines.
- Instructs families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs as directed by staff therapist.
- Communicates with supervisor and other health staff regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meetings as required or directed.
- Participates in in-service training and facility performance improvement programs.
- Coordinates with other departments, attending physicians, and staff within Rehab department.
- Performs other duties as required or directed.
- Screens patients based on identified needs per State Practice Act.
- Ensures equipment and supply needs are maintained and recommends changes to the administrator. Maintains cleanliness and safety of the facility and rehab area.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Assistant Program with successful certification/license for Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistants.
- Ability to read regulations and write clearly.
- Courteous, friendly communication skills.
- Ability to manage and direct subordinates effectively.
- Independent decision-making skills.
- Tactful interaction with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and agencies.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, and policies for quality resident care.
