This job provides routine treatment as assigned and according to plan of care provided by a licensed Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) performs direct patient care after evaluation by a licensed Physical Therapist, documenting patient progress in daily notes or summaries for physicians.

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

1. Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
2. Work Experience: None required.
3. Certifications: Current physical therapy assistant license in the state of practice or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state; Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include proficiency with computers and software, effective communication, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to travel between facilities.

Key job duties involve performing prescribed physical therapy treatments, documenting patient status changes, maintaining records, participating in staff projects, meeting productivity goals, educating patients and staff, adapting behavior to patient needs, and other related duties. The role requires adherence to legal, safety, and compliance standards, including exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential infectious agents.

This position is classified as very heavy work, involving exerting significant force, and may involve occupational risks related to exposure to hazardous materials and communicable diseases in a healthcare setting.
