General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant PV to join our team at MedStar Health Home Care. As a Physical Therapy Assistant PV, you will provide physical therapy treatment under the direction of the physical therapist, adhering to agency standards, laws, and regulations governing physical therapy services in Maryland, D.C., or Virginia.

Primary Duties
  1. Assist patients and caregivers in discharge planning, including referrals to community resources such as outpatient therapy, day care, or driver's education.
  2. Help the physical therapist assess the patient's environment and recommend adaptive equipment or home modifications to enhance safety and functional ability.
  3. Assist in obtaining items reimbursable as orthotics, prosthetics, or durable medical equipment.
  4. Communicate effectively with supervisors, the rehab department, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care, scheduling, and departmental issues.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams, community outreach, and educational programs.
  6. Maintain communication with the patient's healthcare team regarding care and progress.
  7. Provide patient education on functional status, progress, and post-discharge care management.
  8. Perform assessments and procedures such as goniometry, vital signs, and measurements, utilizing appropriate tools and senses.
  9. Accurately document medical records in compliance with standards and regulations.
  10. Deliver therapeutic procedures including exercises, mobility training, gait training, and application of heat/cold or ultrasound.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience.
  • Physical Therapist Assistant License in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid State Driver’s License in good standing.

This position offers a hiring range of $25.35 - $44.55.
