Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a part-time Physical Therapy Assistant to support statewide facilities. This wage position is limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period, with no state benefits and a cap on weekly hours.

Under supervision of a physical therapist, you will perform modalities, therapeutic exercises, and rehabilitative activities while documenting progress per the treatment plan. Multiple regional sites across Virginia are listed.

Eastern Region

• Indian Creek Correctional Center - Chesapeake, VA
• St. Brides Correctional Center - Chesapeake, VA

Under the supervision of the physical therapist, provides for patient needs, modalities, therapeutic exercises, rehabilitative therapy, and the use of orthopedic/adaptive equipment.

Assist physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. Assists with carrying out treatment plans and routine functions, modifies treatment plans and documents the progress of treatment within the scope of treatment plans established by a physical therapist.

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.

Current physical therapy assistant licensed in the state of Virginia.

Additional Considerations

Experience working in an outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapy Department.
