Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Attending and contributing to patient care, staffing conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist.
  2. Ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)' schedule, and timely documentation of services.
  3. Working with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities suited to each patient's needs and capabilities.
  4. Acting as an assistant to the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
  5. Instructing patients, families, and caregivers in physical therapy skills and techniques under supervision.
  6. Maintaining accurate and timely documentation for all treated patients.
  7. Cleansing, maintaining, and reporting the need for equipment repairs.
  8. Putting Patient Service First by providing high-quality, compassionate care that respects individual needs and rights.
  9. Implementing individualized treatment plans established by the primary Physical Therapist.
  10. Providing treatments such as therapeutic exercises, functional training, manual therapy, airway clearance, integumentary repair, and use of modalities.
  11. Organizing and facilitating treatment groups in collaboration with the physical therapist.
  12. Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice.
  • Available to travel and temporarily reside outside the primary home location.
