Job summary

The role requires completing an accredited PTA program and state licensure, with ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and strong communication with patients and staff. Travel may be required within local area.

Qualifications

• Graduate PTA program completed and licensed in the state where practicing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist in patient handling.
• Excellent communication with patients, families, staff, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical therapy programs under the general supervision of a physical therapist.
• Assist in administering programs involving passive manual therapeutic exercises, massage, traction and heat, and modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation.
• Instruct, motivate and assist patients to learn and improve skills.
• Observe patients during treatments and report progress to rehab director.
• Assist in evaluating patients' daily living skills and capacities.
• Design and adapt equipment as needed.
• Instruct patients and families in care and use of adaptive equipment.
• Document patient progress toward goals.
• Maintain good relations with patients, families and center guests; uphold patient rights and infection control policies.
• Observe safety needs and report hazards, ensuring patient safety.
• Maintain supplies and equipment; keep billing records.
