Job summary

The New Jewish Home in Manhattan seeks a full-time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Physical Therapy Department on the 120 West 106th Street campus. The PTA provides targeted treatments and collaborates with licensed therapists to support resident mobility and function.

Under supervision, you will implement therapy plans, coach residents in exercises and activities of daily living, and document progress while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New York State.
• Six months PTA experience required, preferably in long term and sub acute settings.
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program.

Responsibilities

• Performs the physical therapy program as planned by the Physical Therapist.
• Follows procedures and safety in the application and use of heat, cold, light, water, sound and massage.
• Carries out positioning and exercise programs.
• Coaches and trains residents in exercises, ambulation and activities of daily living.
• Performs responsibilities appropriate to the established physical therapy services.
• Observes and reports the resident's responses to the Physical Therapist.
• Performs other related duties as required.
