Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist in accordance with the patients' plan of care. The PTA will screen patients, educate patients and their families, and utilize exercises and physical therapy modalities in treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with medical problems, health-related conditions, or developmental disabilities that limit their movement or ability to perform functional activities. Some travel may be required between facilities and for various job functions. This summary highlights the primary duties and responsibilities but is not exhaustive of all tasks assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to travel to STHS facilities as needed.
• Membership in a professional organization is preferred.
• Must demonstrate commitment to adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct by following all policies and procedures, attending required training, and reporting any suspected compliance issues to the Compliance Officer immediately.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

• Licensure in the State of Texas as a Physical Therapist Assistant, or possession of a valid temporary license while awaiting the permanent license.
• Clinical experience is preferred.
• Must maintain current BCLS certification in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA Healthcare Provider's Program, based on unit-specific needs.
