Job summary

Health Advocates Network, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant for Mitchells, VA to provide supervised PTA services in a correctional healthcare setting.

This full-time role features a 40-hour work week and local pay of $40.00 per hour under W2 status. The successful candidate will assist in mobility and functional rehab, educate patients, and document progress while collaborating with the rehab team and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Current, valid VA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
• Minimum of 1+ year within the last 3 years of recent experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant
• Copy of PSV from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test).

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Assist patients in improving mobility, strength, balance, and functional abilities.
• Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises and use of assistive devices.
• Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Document treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately and promptly.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and injury prevention.
• Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment and equipment.
• Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to support patient recovery goals.
• Follow facility policies and regulatory standards.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide physical therapy treatments under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

• Assist patients in improving mobility, strength, balance, and functional abilities.

• Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises and the proper use of assistive devices.

• Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.

• Document treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately and promptly.

• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and injury prevention.
