Job summary

Indiana Fitness Works Inc. in Portland, Indiana seeks a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to support patient rehabilitation under the supervision of a physical therapist.

The role requires graduation from an accredited PTA program and ongoing professional education. You will participate in treatment plans, communicate with the rehab team and physicians, and maintain accurate documentation and attendance records.

Qualifications

• Evidence of interest in continuing education within the profession.
• PTA reports directly to supervising PT.

Responsibilities

• Conduct treatment plans as established by PT under supervision of PT.
• Communicate with PT, Rehab team members and referring physician regarding patients' treatment program.
• Maintain weekly objective progress notes, following documentation guidelines.
• Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
• Complete daily time logs, Medicare logs, change slips and other required paperwork.
• Supervise supportive staff in clerical and transporting duties as assigned.
• Follow all established policies and procedures of the company.
• Communicate the Physical Therapist’s designed plan of care to physician; take telephone orders for plan of care and obtain co-signature by supervising therapist.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. The program must be accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Display evidence of interest in continuing education within the profession
• PTA reports directly to immediate supervisory PT

Typical Physical Demands

Assistant assigned must be able to perform the following physical job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Lift up to 10lbs overhead occasionally
• Lift up to 50lbs from floor to knuckle occasionally
• Lift up to 25lbs from knuckle to shoulder occasionally
• Pivot transfer up to 150lbs occasionally
• Carry up to 50lbs, 200ft frequently
• Push/pull 75lbs, 100ft frequently
• Fine hand manipulation, bilaterally continuously
• Heavy grasp, bilaterally frequently
• Visually acuity connect to 20/20
• Tactile discrimination

Typical Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations.

Duties

• Supervise supportive staff in clerical and transporting duties as assigned
• Must follow all established policies and procedures of the company
• Communicate the Physical Therapist’s designed plan of care to physician. The assistant will also take a telephone order from the physician to certify that plan of care or change the plan of care. The telephone order will then be co-signed by the supervising therapist.
