Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network in New York is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to support our rehabilitation team. You will administer PT treatments under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to restore function and promote patient independence in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehab, and outpatient settings.

The role requires NYS PTA license or temporary permit, BLS CPR within 6 months, and commitment to continuing education, documentation, and quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited PTA program; experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • NYS Physical Therapy Assistant license or valid temporary permit; BLS CPR within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant is desired; new graduates will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Independently carries out PT treatment plan of care as established by Physical Therapist.
  • Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act.
  • Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to treat the assigned number of patients per day, and determine the need for follow up visits to maximize the functional outcomes.
  • Completes all required documentation following treatment, ensuring documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved.
  • Maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services.
  • Acts fiscally responsible in use & request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication.
  • Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promoting professional standards in physical therapy.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Communicates with supervising therapists, through written or oral means, the progress of assigned patients and/or unexpected changes in patient status. Modifies the treatment plan, based on anticipated functional outcomes in consultation with the therapists. Documents findings in the record.

What you'll do

The Physical Therapy Assistant administers physical therapy treatments, interventions, and/or physical agents under the supervision of the Physical Therapist to restore or improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills, to achieve optimal physical function and prevent disabilities, in accordance with principles and practices of the profession. What we need from you
Education
  • Degree from an accredited PTA program, required
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of education
Experience
  • Experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant is desired, preferred

Pay Range

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. USD $28.98/Hr.

USD $43.47/Hr.
