Job Summary

Provides rehabilitation therapy procedures to patients under the supervision of a physical therapist and assists with patient and caregiver education.

Essential Functions

1. Develops treatment programs and provides education to restore and maximize patient function. Assesses treatment effectiveness and adjusts goals and methods as needed.
2. Documents patient treatments in compliance with departmental standards and legal and reimbursement requirements.
3. Instructs and trains other rehabilitation staff, nursing, medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
4. Participates in process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives, program development, and marketing activities.
5. Enhances skills through continuing education, participating in competency assessments, and developing new patient care concepts for diverse populations.
6. Maintains productivity standards as per departmental guidelines.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
• Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Michigan (upon hire).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC (within 90 days of hire).
• Driver's License in Michigan (upon hire).
