Position: Early Intervention PTA
Program Focus: Infant and Toddler Development
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physical therapists to implement individualized treatment plans for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities.
- Conduct assessments and gather relevant patient information to contribute to the formulation of intervention goals.
- Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions, exercises, and activities to enhance motor skills, balance, and coordination in young children.
- Work closely with parents and caregivers to educate and demonstrate home exercises and activities to support ongoing therapy goals.
- Document and maintain accurate records of patient progress, treatment plans, and communication with other healthcare professionals.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings, coordinating efforts with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other members of the early intervention team.
- Implement assistive devices and adaptive equipment as recommended by the supervising physical therapist.
- Stay informed about current best practices and evidence-based interventions in early intervention physical therapy.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging environment to promote optimal development and achievement of developmental milestones.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred; Valid RI licensure as a PTA required.
- 2+ years' experience providing treatment to infants and toddlers (birth to age three) in a family-focused, home-based setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the trans-disciplinary provision of services required.
- Commitment to a family-centered, compassionate approach.
- Advanced knowledge in one or more special treatment areas, such as NDT, second language and/or experience working with minority racial, ethnic, and immigrant populations preferred.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- CPR/FA Certification required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and safe driving record.
- Access to a personal vehicle.
