Job Summary

The physical therapy assistant works as a team member of Therapy Services Department. Under the general direction of the Therapy Services Manager, this position provides treatment following the plan of care, instruct patients in exercise program and activities of daily living, administer treatment, use special equipment, and other treatment procedures. Work collaboratively with other team members and departments on issues relating to order placement, treatment schedules and staff availability. Represent the department in meetings and on committees relating to these issues as assigned. Reassess all patients, making sure patient’s treatment follows plan of care. Reassess all patients, determining whether patient progresses or not. Writes all pertinent notes and information required for charting, communication and administration. Assists in training and directing PT Techs and Aides. Perform all technician and/or assistant functions if supportive staff is unavailable or more assistance is required.
