Job Summary:

Under the supervision of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants treat patients through exercise, massage, gait and balance training, and other therapeutic interventions. They document patients' progress and report treatment results to the physical therapist.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Provide treatment to residents with musculoskeletal, neurological, balance, and gait disorders after receiving a written order from a physician and RPT.
  2. Complete all necessary documentation accurately and timely.
  3. Attend required facility meetings and in-services.
  4. Assist the facility in meeting standards for state, federal, and other certifications.
  5. Follow all infection control policies and respect OBRA Resident’s Rights Guidelines.
  6. Schedule residents appropriately and participate in in-services and meetings.
  7. Report to the DOR if productivity levels are outside standard ranges to address staffing or resident screening needs.
  8. Maintain professional conduct, communication, and attire while in the facility.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehab and facility.
Supervision:

The Physical Therapist Assistant reports directly to the Director of Rehab, who oversees clinical and documentation skills and ensures compliance with professional standards. The PTA carries out treatment plans established by the RPT, with all documentation signed by the RPT.
