HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join on a PRN basis. You will assist in delivering therapy under a Physical Therapist, focusing on improving mobility and reducing pain for patients.

Qualifications include an accredited PTA degree, FL licensure, and BLS certification, with preferred inpatient rehab experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Clear/active State of Florida Physical Therapy Assistant license.
• Current Functional Independence Measure (FIM) required.
• Experience in inpatient rehab is preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Critical thinking and adaptability; good interpersonal communication.
• General PC skills and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide treatment and rehabilitative services to patients under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
• Conduct patient education, including post-care planning and gait/functional training.
• Record, monitor and review clinical data; suggest treatment plan modifications.
• Collaborate with patient service departments to coordinate educational outreach.

Job Summary And Qualifications

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team on a PRN basis. As a PTA on our team, you will provide treatment and rehabilitative services to patients to improve mobility, relieve pain and disability under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Your duties and responsibilities may include:

• Conduct patient education, including post-care planning, proper use of supportive devices and equipment, and gait and functional training.
• Record, monitor, analyze and review clinical data; Provide feedback to therapist regarding possible modifications to treatment plan and goals based upon patient performance; Adapt recognized therapeutic techniques and modalities to meet the needs of the patient.
• Collaborate with patient service departments and community service agencies to coordinate and conduct educational outreach programs and learning activities.
• Utilize appropriate methods and material for effective learning, monitor response to education and adapt program as needed.

Requirements:

• Associate degree in an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
• Clear/active State of Florida Physical Therapy Assistant license
• Current Functional Independence Measure (FIM) required
• Experience in appropriate healthcare setting – inpatient rehab – preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Critical thinking and adaptability; services excellence and good interpersonal communication skills; ability to read/comprehend written instructions; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; general PC skills
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting patients and /or equipment up to 50 pounds
