Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is seeking a clinic aide to work under close supervision of a physical therapist. You will direct ambulatory patients, assist with therapeutic exercises, document treatments, and operate treatment modalities in Bend, Oregon.

Additional duties include opening/closing the clinic, maintaining cleanliness, basic clerical tasks, and equipment upkeep. Base pay ranges from $17 to $22 per hour, with discretionary incentive compensation and standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.
• Degree in Pre-Physical Therapy coursework or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Personable, energetic, and capable of working with a diverse patient population and in a team environment.
• Reliable and professional with the ability to place value on high quality patient care.
• Dress in clinic-appropriate attire to convey professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Direct ambulatory patients to-and-from treatment areas (including wheelchairs).
• Confer with PT staff for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
• Instruct patients performing therapeutic exercises under direction of therapists; record treatment and equipment used.
• Properly fit/position patients on exercise equipment.
• Observe patients during treatment, report responses and progress to PT.
• Safely administer modalities including electrical stimulation, Micro Current stimulation, ultrasound, cold laser, and ice/heat as directed.
• Assist hand therapist with splint making and hand therapy exercises.
• Perform opening/closing duties for the clinic, locking doors and securing the building.
• Maintain clinic cleanliness and cleaning schedules (daily/weekly/monthly).
• Maintain equipment and furniture; assemble/disassemble equipment as needed.
• Change linens, launder, restock rooms.
• Perform basic clerical duties (answering phones, taking messages, filing forms).

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Pre-Physical Therapy coursework preferred

Job description

Under close supervision of a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant, perform select patient care tasks and maintain a clean treatment area. The extent to which an aide performs clerical tasks depends on the needs of the facility.

Direct Patient Care Duties:

• Direct ambulatory patients to-and-from treatment areas (including those patients using wheelchairs). Patients identified as fall-risks will be handled by licensed staff.
• Confer with physical therapy staff for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
• Instruct patients performing therapeutic exercises and activities, under direction of therapist staff. Record treatment provided and equipment used.
• Properly fit/position patients on exercise equipment.
• Observe patients during treatment to compile and assess patients’ responses and progress, and report to physical therapist.
• Safely administer treatment modalities including electrical stimulation, Micro Current stimulation, ultrasound, cold laser, and the application of ice and heat packs. Be knowledgeable of the function/purpose of these modalities.
• Assist hand therapist with splint making and administering hand therapy exercises.

Non- Patient Care Duties:

• Perform opening / closing duties for the clinic, locking doors and securing the building.
• Responsible for maintaining clinic cleanliness. This includes completing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
• Maintain clinic equipment and furniture to keep it in good working condition, including performing the assembly and disassembly of equipment and accessories.
• Change linens, such as bed sheets and pillow cases, launder linens and restock rooms.
• Perform basic clerical duties, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18-years of age and have a high school diploma
• Degree in Pre-Physical Therapy coursework or a related field and demonstrating interest in pursuing a career in Allied Health preferred. Equivalent experience or qualifications will also be considered.
• Personable, energetic, and capable of working with a diverse patient population and in a team environment
• Reliable and professional with the ability to place value on and maintain high quality patient care as number one priority.
• Dress in clinic appropriate attire to convey professionalism.

Additional Information

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $17.00- $22.00. Salary is based on various factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. The Company's incentive compensation plan is subject to change.
