Job Summary
Assesses patients, develops and initiates treatment plans based on evaluation results, which may include measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions. Provides direct patient care, documents findings, progress, and instructions to patients and caregivers. May assist Level III physical therapists with program development and serve as a resource to staff Physical Therapists. Provides training and guidance to students and interns. Responsible for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians.
A physical therapist practicing direct access will examine and evaluate a patient's current conditions, potentially identifying movement and mobility dysfunctions. They will not diagnose illnesses or diseases. If a diagnosis has been established by a healthcare practitioner, it will be considered during evaluation.
PT will treat limb loss and oncology patients

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based program.
Licenses/Certifications: Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission. Current certification in Basic Life Support.
Additional Qualifications for Direct Access Practice: Doctoral degree with residency or fellowship, OR licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis.
