7:00-5:30 M, T, Th, F (Wednesdays off)

The Position: We are seeking an outpatient physical therapist to join our continually growing therapy services department. We are part of UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, a not-for-profit organization. Positions available with opportunities to specialize in multiple areas including pediatrics. Up to a $30,000 Signing Bonus!

We offer one-to-one quality treatments, evaluations generally scheduled for 60 minutes with 45-minute follow-up treatments, diverse patient populations, a collaborative working environment, and support from a strong team of clinicians. We provide mentorships and preceptorships. Our experienced team includes Board Certified Therapists. We encourage and promote growth of specialties and Board Certification.

The team! 25+ physical therapists, 5 occupational therapists, 4 speech pathologists.

Specialties and services: Orthopedics, pediatrics, aquatics, oncology, pelvic health, lymphedema, dry needling, LSVT, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, and neurological rehabilitation.

The Area: Located in the beautiful Piedmont area of Virginia, at the eastern foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Culpeper offers natural beauty and rich history, with a strong economic base and a mix of business, industry, tourism, and agriculture. Quick access to Washington, D.C., Charlottesville, Richmond, and Fredericksburg.

JOB SUMMARY

The major functions include:

  1. Providing therapy services aligned with licensure, including patient evaluation, care planning, treatment, education, and documentation.
  2. Supervising therapy assistants, technicians, students, and volunteers as applicable.
  3. Communicating with healthcare providers about patient care and treatment plans.
  4. Providing training and education to hospital staff as requested.
  5. Completing patient documentation promptly to meet regulatory and organizational standards.
  6. Attending continuing education and sharing findings with staff.
  7. Managing insurance authorization requirements timely.
  8. Contributing to performance improvement initiatives.
  9. Understanding treatment and equipment precautions.
  10. Supporting departmental financial performance and productivity.

Patient Care: Delivering care consistent with disciplinary guidelines and ethical standards, including evaluations, treatment, safety, and goal setting.

  1. Completing evaluations and treatments independently, maintaining safety.
  2. Seeking guidance when necessary.
  3. Establishing and modifying treatment goals based on patient input and assessments.
  4. Scheduling activities based on individual needs.

Teamwork: Building positive relationships and functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team.

  1. Sharing responsibility and accepting feedback.
  2. Ensuring effective communication.
  3. Managing individual caseloads collaboratively.
  4. Handling administrative tasks efficiently.

Technical Competency: Demonstrating relevant clinical skills and knowledge, engaging in ongoing education, and mentoring new staff.

  1. Maintaining clinical knowledge through education.
  2. Providing orientation to new staff.

The incumbent may perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited PT program.
  2. Experience: No experience necessary. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for details.
  3. Licensure: Virginia State Therapy License, Physical Therapist Trainee in Virginia, or Compact Privilege.

Physical Demands: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and using safety equipment as needed.

Other: May require infection prevention equipment, on-call responsibilities, and travel between facilities.
