Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients across a wide age range, from infants to geriatrics, in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role involves developing individualized treatment plans, educating patients and families, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality care and successful discharge planning. A valid MA PT license and NPTBE completion are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited PT program.
• Current license to practice physical therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Successful completion of National Physical Therapy Board Examination.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for listed requirements.
• Competencies will be developed and maintained in the department and reviewed with incumbents.

Responsibilities

• Administers therapy evaluations and develops treatment plans for diverse patient populations.
• Analyzes data, assesses functional ability, and consults with physicians as needed.
• Provides individualized treatment plans including therapeutic exercises, ROM, neuromuscular education, and mobility training.
• Educates patients and families, participates in care meetings, and assists with discharge planning.
• Documents care and completes therapy billing; maintains an orderly, safe work environment.
• Delegates caseload to therapists and oversees quality of care; ensures adequate patient coverage.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and program development.
• Supervises students according to Practice Standards.
