  • Provide developmentally and educationally based intervention to improve safety and independence
  • Data input into secure, computerized systems for reports and billing

Job Types: Contract

Pay: $74.00 - $84.00 per hour

Expected hours: FLEXIBLE

Qualifications and Skills

Appropriate State License

NYSED Certification Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) OR Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)

For some preschool referrals - willingness to work with medically fragile


Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist, School Based serves students with various physical, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Ages range from 3-21 years old. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Implement treatment plans and programs through consistent daily and weekly schedules focusing on functional and measurable outcomes shared with the school and/or supervisors.
  • Deliver specialized individual and group physical therapy instruction as mandated in students’ IEPs.
  • Collect data and complete reports regarding the student’s goals and progress.
  • Consult with other professionals (Teachers, SLP, OT, PCP, etc.) on the treatment team to ensure cohesive therapy.
  • Assess and document each student’s progress through tests and measurements.
  • Write and prepare annual review reports and goals according to IEP requirements and state guidelines.
  • Provide physical therapy expertise in developing FBA/BIP.
  • Support and educate parents and caregivers about student progress and strategies outside of school.
  • Attend all scheduled school meetings, including Triennials, Annual Reviews, and pre-IEP meetings.
  • Ensure a suitable learning environment by preparing materials and supplies.
  • Supervise PTA(s) as per state guidelines, as needed.
  • Communicate with schools and families to obtain physician signatures/orders for referrals.
  • Follow safety guidelines for mobility and exercises provided by related service providers.
  • Utilize communication devices and assistive technology as outlined.
  • Follow fire drill and safety protocols for students.
  • Conduct screenings and evaluations to determine physical therapy needs.
  • Maintain therapy records in compliance with reimbursement and school standards.
  • Participate in trainings, in-service, and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license and eligibility.
  • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, or a related field with a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy, or Bachelor’s plus 5 years of PT experience.
  • Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
  • Current CPR Certification.

Posted Salary Range

USD $40.00 - USD $90.00 /Hr.
