Job description

Adventist Rehabilitation - Rockville

Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation seeks to hire an experienced Physical Therapist (PT) for our Inpatient Rehab hospital, who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Physical Therapist (PT) you will:

  1. Perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation settings (flexes to any Rehab site as needed).
  2. Provide, or direct and supervise, the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care. The therapist involves the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care. Reexamine the patient/client as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or change in patient/client status and modify the plan of care accordingly or discontinue physical therapy services.
  3. In consultation with appropriate disciplines, plan for discharge of the patient/client taking into consideration achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, and provide for appropriate follow-up or referral. The physical therapist discontinues intervention when the patient/client is unable to continue to progress toward goals or when the physical therapist determines that the patient/client will no longer benefit from therapy (in coordination with referring provider/team where indicated).
  4. Communicate, coordinate and document all aspects of patient/client management including the results of the initial examination and evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in patient/client status relative to the interventions, reexamination, and discharge/discontinuation of intervention and other patient/client management activities with members of the care team as indicated. Supervises and directs the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants and volunteers.
  5. Manage schedule to accommodate range in census and patient load and inform management of any issues with caseload management.
  6. Attend team meetings and effectively communicate patient status, using, if needed, the medical record or other treating therapists to ensure sufficient knowledge of the case.
  7. Be responsible for individual professional development activities.

Qualifications include:

  1. Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from accredited physical therapy program
  2. 1-year site specific preferred
  3. Active Maryland License
  4. Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Work Schedule:

Minimum per diem commitment is 2 weekend days per month; shift is 6 hours minimum, plus 2 holidays per year (one being a winter holiday)

Pay Range: $34.58 - $51.87

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount or if the position is Per Diem (offering a fixed rate), salary discussions will occur during the screening process.

Tobacco and Drug Statement

Tobacco use is a well-recognized preventable cause of death in the United States and an important public health issue. In order to promote and maintain a healthy work environment, Adventist HealthCare will not hire applicants for employment who either state that they are nicotine users or who test positive for nicotine and drug use.

While some jurisdictions, including Maryland, permit the use of marijuana for medical purposes, marijuana continues to be classified as an illegal drug under the federal Controlled Substances Act. Those testing positive are given the opportunity to re-apply in 90 days, if they can truthfully attest that they have not used any nicotine products in the past ninety (90) days and successfully pass follow-up testing.
