Job summary

University Hospitals Avon Rehabilitation Hospital in Ohio is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to join our inpatient team. You will evaluate patients, develop plans of care, and implement therapeutic programs designed to restore function and relieve pain.

The role includes directing staff and collaborating with the care team, with a focus on patient-centered outcomes and compliance with licensure and safety standards in an acute rehab setting.

Qualifications

• License to practice physical therapy in Ohio.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Ability to think critically, make decisions, and work with minimal supervision.
• BLS knowledge is ideal but not required in description.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions.
• Establishes a plan of care aligned to identified problems and patient goals.
• Plans and carries out individually designed physical therapy programs to restore function and alleviate pain.
• Performs therapy interventions using standard PT techniques appropriate for patient age and condition.
• Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and support staff; assesses competence and communicates expectations.

How you'll contribute

A Physical Therapist who excels in this role:

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.

• Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.

• Plans, prepares and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.

• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.

• Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel. Assesses competence, delegates specific tasks, and establishes channels of communication.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a Physical Therapist license in the state of Ohio. Additional requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree preferred

• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision

• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

• Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of hire
