Job summary

Mercy Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Youngstown is seeking a Physical Therapist for inpatient rehabilitation. The role includes supervising PT assistants, performing assessments, and developing individualized care plans to improve function and reduce pain.

• Applicants should have a degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program and a Physical Therapist license in OH.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Must possess critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supervises physical therapy assistants and aids in performing treatment.
• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient condition.
• Establishes a plan of care appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient.
• Plans and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to restore or improve function and alleviate pain.
• Performs therapy interventions using standard PT techniques and equipment.

How You'll Contribute

A Physical Therapist who excels in this role:

• Supervises physical therapy assistants and aids in performing treatment.
• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
• Plans, prepares and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
• Administers treatment involving application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.

What We're Looking For
