Job summary

Mercy Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Youngstown is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to join our inpatient rehabilitation team on a full-time schedule (Tuesday–Saturday). This role emphasizes high-quality patient care and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You will supervise assistants, perform assessments, develop plans of care, design therapy programs, and apply PT techniques and modalities to improve function and reduce pain. OH license and BLS within 30 days are required.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program and OH license.
• BLS certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises physical therapy assistants and aides in performing treatment.
• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care aligned to identified problems and patient goals.
• Plans and carries out designed programs to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning and alleviate pain.
• Performs therapy interventions using standard PT techniques and skills.
• Administers treatments involving physical agents and equipment (moist packs, UV/IR lamps, ultrasound).

Schedule: Full Time (Tuesday-Saturday Shifts (can request off 1 Saturday per month)

How you'll contribute

APhysical Therapistwho excels in this role:

• Supervises physical therapy assistants and aids in performing treatment.

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.

• Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.

• Plans, prepares and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.

• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.

• Administers treatment involving application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program and a Physical Therapist license in OH. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) obtain within 30 days of hire

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
