As a Physical Therapist, you willutilizevarious exercises to increase strength, range of motion,enduranceand coordination to relieve pain, avoid injury or regain function.This position requires close physical interaction with patients, offeringnumerousopportunities totruly connectwith patients and build stronger relationships. Often,thesepatients are dealing with pain, so sensitivity isessential.Giving patients the drive and support they need to work hard and regain their healthis equally important.This role will provide support for both outpatient and inpatient populations.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work varying hours between 7:00am and 6:30pm at the Healthplex (Outpatient Physical Therapy). Weekend requirements include 1 weekend morning commitment per month (either Saturday or Saturday/Sunday at the inpatient site).

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Evaluate and conduct prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.

  • Establish,reviseand evaluate plans of care while involving the patient and/or their family.

  • Perform therapy interventions.

  • Supervise activities of Physical Therapy Assistants,studentsand other caregivers.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’sDegree or certificate

  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in a clinical area

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient’s arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient’s gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient’s description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
