Job summary

10 HOSP Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Level I staff member to evaluate patients and organize therapy programs based on thorough evaluations and best practices. Candidates must have a current Illinois license and successful graduation from an accredited program.

Job description

General Summary

The Level I staff member assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients and organizes, performs and modifies therapy programs based upon a thorough evaluation of each patient and best practice methods.

Essential Job Functions
  • Evaluates each assigned patient in terms of current or potential problems pertaining to physical therapy, meeting or exceeding established clinical pathways and protocols for best practice.
  • Establishes age‑specific plan of care and functional goals based on evaluation results, incorporating other disciplines, patients/families into treatment planning and documenting the patient/family/caregiver’s understanding of goals while explaining rationale and methods.
  • Consistently re‑evaluates effectiveness of ongoing treatment plan, instituting appropriate changes in the care plan.
  • Assesses educational needs of the patient, family, caregiver and provides education to meet those needs.
  • Participates in clinics, rounds, meetings, in‑services, annual competencies, MYR, departmental process‑improvement projects and conferences, as assigned.
  • Collaborates and communicates appropriately with families, physicians, other rehabilitation staff, nurse case managers and others within and outside the Lurie Children’s system.
  • Upgrades own knowledge in pediatric care and actively participates in in‑services, including planning educational activities for the team.
  • Meets required departmental productivity standards and participates in supervision/instruction of students, orientation of new staff and support staff, as assigned.
  • Supports organizational change initiatives and adapts to a rapidly changing health‑care environment.
  • Performs all job functions adhering to service principles with a customer‑service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to patients, families, co‑workers and others.
Education and Experience

Current license or proof of eligibility and submission for license in the State of Illinois. Successful graduation from a discipline‑specific accredited program. Certification in CPR from the American Heart Association with completion of the BLS AED Heartsaver Course.

Pay Range

$37.00–$60.50 hourly. The pay range indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
