Job description

Clinician Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a therapeutic environment focusing on behavior modification, improved social skills, and effective coping strategies.
  • Complete duties assigned by Charge Nurse, Clinical Managers, or Unit Director.
  • Lead and co‑lead milieu activities per program.
  • Set and communicate age‑developmentally appropriate individual goals, expectations and behavioral limits.
  • Implement plans of care and individual behavior programs initiated by the team.
  • Assist in group therapy, recreational therapy, classroom and other activities as assigned.
  • Maintain safety in the milieu using prevention and de‑escalation CCM techniques.
  • Independently perform unit‑specific procedures, protocols and precautions.
  • Intervene in anticipated emergency situations and follow emergency protocols.
  • Communicate changes in health or behavior to appropriate staff.
  • Document patient status and progress in the Medical Record as per program guidelines.
Team Membership
  • Support clinical operations and decisions related to treatment plans.
  • Respond to environmental concerns (maintenance/cleanliness) of the area.
  • Participate in staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Adhere to scheduling requirements.
Professional Development
  • Maintain mandatory yearly reviews.
  • Seek supervision to function in professional role.
  • Assume responsibility for professional development through continuing education events, conferences, group supervision and in‑services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree required in psychology, nursing, social services or related fields.
  • Minimum one year of direct experience in a mental health setting, paid or unpaid, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of basic child care and development, mental disorders affecting children, signs of physical abuse/neglect, and appropriate adult conduct toward normal and disturbed children.
  • Physical requirements: sits and stands throughout the day; may need to manage patients in crisis situations.
